Sports & Mental Performance

Train your mind like you train your body — and compete with faith, focus, consistency, and calm under pressure.. In The Zone helps athletes, coaches, and teams master the mental side of competition the space where you Find, Get, and Stay In The Zone.

The Mind Is the Difference Between Good and Great

In The Zone Coaching equips athletes to think, feel, and perform like champions, not just physically, but mentally and spiritually. As a two-time Olympic medalist, I know that pressure, pain, and adversity don’t define you they reveal you.

When I won my silver medal, I ran with a broken arm. Four years later, I returned to win bronze with a double hernia. Those moments weren’t about speed; they were about faith, focus, and resilience.

That’s what The Zone is all about: finding calm in chaos, courage under pressure, and confidence through belief.

The race is not given to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but to those who endure to the end.

ABOUT DR. MARK CREAR

Walk the Talk — From the Track to the Mind

Dr. Mark Crear is a two-time Olympic medalist, counselor, and performance psychologist who has spent his life overcoming hurdles both on the track and in life. Raised in a single-parent home and a survivor of childhood abuse, Mark faced pain, pressure, and prejudice, yet learned that his greatest strength was not physical but spiritual.

Throughout my career, I experienced victories and valleys. I have always prided myself on doing things with ethics and integrity. I was a drug-free athlete, no shortcuts, no cheating, no compromises. My advantage wasn’t chemical; it was spiritual. My faith was my fuel. My focus was my drive. My forgiveness was my strength. That was my “steroid.” That’s how I overcame every hurdle, on and off the track.
“I leaned on my faith when I couldn’t lean on anything else. My success was never about muscles or medals, it was about mindset.”
Earning both his master’s and doctorate in psychology, Dr. Crear now empowers others to overcome adversity, harness focus, and thrive with purpose.
He’s helped athletes, executives, and teams find clarity, confidence, and calm, even in the face of chaos.

Dr. Crear’s Methodology: The 3F & 3P Framework

The Faith, Focus, and Forgiveness Method — Powered by Purpose, Passion, and Permission. The In The Zone philosophy is built on two pillars that work together — not against each other.

3F Framework

Faith

Find your identity and peace beyond performance

FOCUS

Train your thoughts and emotions for peak execution

Forgiveness

Release fear, failure, and frustration

3P Framework

Purpose

Clarify why you compete and what drives you

Passion

Compete with heart, not just habit

Permission

Allow yourself to win, to grow, and
to shine

These six principles work in harmony — guiding athletes to perform with confidence, stay centered through adversity, and live aligned with who they were designed to be.
