THE BEST WAY TO WORK ON DEI IS THE WAY THAT WORKS FOR YOU

In The Zone ccc is a benefit corporation that provides diversity and inclusion training, workshops, and inclusion-centered consulting. We work with private, non-profit, and government sectors to facilitate and implement diversity and inclusion initiatives. We help organizations navigate diversity and cultural differences among organization members, employees, customers, clients, communities, and population groups they serve, and help them navigate a range of people differences including race, ethnicity, language, gender identity, sexuality, economic disadvantage, disabilities, religion, or veteran status, or any other people topic.

Mark Crear, Ph.D (he/him)

FOUNDER & FORMER CHIEF & DIRECTOR of DIVERSITY, EQUITY, & INCLUSION

Mark Crear, Ph.D.  Founder and former Chief DEI Consultant stepped down in  August 2022. Mark is a motivational force in motion who specializes in Stregetic DEI planning, executive & performance coaching, group facilitation, training, and team development.

Mark Crear, Ph.D., is a passionate DEI ambassador, principal strategist, advocate and enforcer with over 15 years’ SME in Diversity Equity & Inclusion and multicultural competency, leadership development, team & management/coaching/training and employee psychological safety. Mark is known for his exceptional integrity, work ethics, bottom-up management style and ability to lead, encourage and produce results.

Notwithstanding, before jumping any “hurdles” on the track, Mark had plenty of hurdles to jump off. Growing up in a single-family home and being a victim of physical and emotional abuse, Mark early on knew that life was not fair and had plenty of reasons and excuses to quit and give up. However, “quitting” was not a part of Mark’s DNA. Instead, Mark relied on his faith and hard work to carry him from his life of abuse, abandonment, rejection and disappointments, to a two-time Olympian, DEI ambassador, strategist, advocate and enforcer.

Mark is a graduate of the University of Southern California (USC) and served 13 years as Executive Director for AACC and 13 years as The Chief DEI consultant for The Zone ccc.  In 2024, Mark ended his tenure as the Diversity Equity Inclusion Manager for Valley Mountain Regional Center (VMRC).  Notwithstanding, Mark’s greatest achievement is that of loving husband and doting father.
